Yesterday, friend and beekeeper Rhonda Lambert was in the neighbourhood so Julie picked up some honey while I took a few photos of some flowers in the front yard. We then walked down to have lunch at Penny’s Palapa. I had fish tacos. The gold standard for me for fish tacos is Cynthia’s in San Jose del Cabo – only on her lunch menu. The Penny who originally opened Penny’s Palapa on the waterfront in Nanaimo sold the restaurant to another woman named Penny – but the fish tacos are no longer as good. A better choice in town is Gina’s – but none are as good as Cynthia’s (who unfortunately doesn’t live in Nanaimo).
