Notes about 3 photos

A few comments about 3 of the photos sent out earlier today. These are old photos.

  1. If you look closely you will see an indent in the water – my photo of Ogopogo (I’m sticking to that story). This was the first time we went to the Okanagan (2005) with the first digital camera I owned – a Canon 3.2 megapixel point-and-shoot. It’s not possible to take the same photo today because there is a restaurant (Quail’s Gate winery) where I was standing at the time.
  2. The canoe at moonlight. Most people looking at this photo don’t realize that it was taken at night by moonlight with a 4 second exposure. I didn’t have a tripod so put the camera directly on the dock and tried not to rock the dock while the photo was being taken. It was taken with a 6 megapixel Canon Rebel DSLR in 2008.
  3. Taken with the same camera – of Canon Beach from Ecola State Park – also in 2008. That tree no longer exists, so again – it isn’t possible to take that photo any more. The JPEG file (compressed of course) is only 1.7 megabytes. People are obsessed with megapixels today but this 6 megapixel photo – blown up to 20” by 30” is sitting over our fireplace. You can look as closely as you want but you will not see any issues with the resolution of this photo.
