Santa Clara University

The plan was to spend the last two days wandering around San Francisco – but that assumed reasonable weather. Comfort trumps everything else so instead, this morning we decided to walk over to Santa Clara University for a coffee (hot chocolate for me), muffin and a walk. The town of Santa Clara got it’s name from the Santa Clara Mission which was the starting point for Santa Clara University. The Santa Clara Mission got it’s name from Sainte Clare of Assisi.

It’s interesting to sit and have coffee and a muffin surrounded by students who now (at our age) seem to be about 16.

On the way home we stopped at a Safeway to pick up some stuff and from there got caught in a rain and hail storm – arriving back at the Airbnb soaked. Everything is hanging up to dry now as we have our $6 take-home spaghetti and meatballs from yesterdays lunch (there is still some left over) + a couple of Lindor chocolates that we picked up from Safeway for dessert. Do we feel badly about missing out on San Francisco? Let’s just say that the sitting here eating chocolate and listening to the rain pour outside eases the pain.
