Today we went to Vernazza – wandering around a bit and still had an hour to kill before noon so headed to Corniglia for lunch. We ate at a very nice restaurant with a view called Marea.
Vernazza is the only one of the Cinque Terre with a natural harbour while Corniglia is the only one that has no harbour; it’s not even on the sea; it’s on a hill-top above the sea. When you arrive by train in Corniglia, you have two options to get to town: a 20 minute walk in a continuously upward direction or take a 4 minute shuttle. I leave it for you to guess as to which option we took.
Corniglia is the 4th of the Cinque Terre that we have seen – leaving only Monterosso. However for our last day (tomorrow) we have decided to skip Monterosso and just hang around Riomaggiore.
Photos of Vernazza below with some of Corniglia to come later.
