We’re back in Nice. We were here last September and we’re back again but in a different apartment.
There are similarities and differences with the apartment we had in September. One of the similarities is the locks on the doors – built like a bank safe – basically impenetrable. The other similarity is the apartments were both on the 3rd floor with 3 flights of stairs or if you prefer – an ancient elevator.
The last elevator had bifold doors, that, if you weren’t careful, hit you in the back when the doors opened. The doors on the elevator in the apartment this year have to be opened manually.
The other interesting thing about the last elevator is that it could only do one thing at a time. If two people got into the elevator and the first person hit the button for floor 4, and the second person wanted to go to floor 2, the elevate ignored the second person and took them up to floor 4 at which point they could then push floor 2. I haven’t tested this year’s elevator. My only comment about this year’s elevator is that I have to use a flashlight to see the buttons.
Last year’s apartment didn’t have a balcony while this one extends across two rooms so we can sit and have our meal on a tiny table with tiny chairs and dry our clothes on a rack (both apartments had a washer but no dryer).
