Today we took the train to Antibes. We managed to keep our perfect track recored of something going wrong on every trip. In this case, the ticket issued by the SNCF connect app wouldn’t let us through the gates to get to the platform. We went to search for help. We finally found an official helping some tourists buy tickets. He explained what we had to do: “go to the yellow box labelled ‘help for handicapped’ – and push the button. The person responding to the button will ask to see the ticket via a camera above the button and will let you in” – so we did.
Antibes is an ancient walled city – and the wall is great to walk on except if it is really hot – which it was. Part way along, there is a Picasso Museum so we left the wall to go inside. Besides Picasso, there were a couple of other exhibits. One was by an artist who simply projected white round floodlights on walls. Who would have thought that was art? It would have never crossed my mind and after seeing it – I’m still waiting for the artistic quality to hit me.
Antibes also has market every day except Mondays. We went to the market and then to a restaurant nearby. We had a beer while we waited for them to open for lunch. I had the special (photo included) and Julie had a quinoa salad – both excellent.
